Just want to do a quick comparison against a price I've seen advertised. How much have others paid for a recent service for a basic coastal raft under ten years old? The price I want to compare against includes replacement for all lifed items but not carriage (I'd drop it off).

Cheers,

Pete

We have used those guys before, and I can recommend them - No Connection
and they charged us around £350.00 including new gas bottle as well, as far I remember ...
Worth giving them a call

Thanks, that's put the offer I have into context. Not had to do it before and it seemed a lot, but compared to most of these it appears to be on the low side of average.

about 300 odd from universal safety on the Hamble, friendly and let you see inside etc and even sit inside so the first time you see it is not in extremis!

I've stuck my head inside one of the same model as ours, at the boat show.

Kids' paddling pool with a cheap tent on top, like most of 'em :)

Viking estimated £500-600, possibly more, plus transportation (£30 each way) for the big service (gas bottle etc.). 4 man raft from 1999. Probably getting rid of it instead. Being indecisive about it.

I've used ADEC at Barking (main office in Bromley) for the last few services and have paid less than any of the figures quoted in this thread.

Yes, the price I have is specifically for rafts under ten years where the gas bottle doesn't need to be hydro-tested or replaced.

I was quoted £150 by http://norwestmarine.co.uk/ for a 6 person Seago valise, probably 3 or 4 years ago.

They always seem to come in cheaper than anyone else. When I had a Seago the Norwest quote was bout half of Survitec/Cosalt's, but I went with the high one because carriage to and from Liverpool would have eaten up a lot of the difference and I could drop the thing off in leith myself.

May I ask what you paid including replacement bits? Our 12 year old Seago is due for a service, Seago adverts quote a fixed £325 iirc all in for one of that age. ADECs website just quotes £120 for the survey, £20 less than Suffolk marine who I would normally go to, but the flares, gas bottle etc add a lot to the cost. Thanks

Maybe a bit more than I remembered! I've now looked back through my records. Similar raft to yours, £210 in early 2015. £180 in early 2011. Can't recall what was included though, sorry. I went to Adec after using Premier (at Burnham) on a previous occasion who wanted an arm and a leg and who wouldn't price opening/inspection only, which Adec will do. Also Adec are an easy car journey away, so no delivery charges, and I have also found them very helpful and willing to discuss.

I found universal safety helpful. I have a plasimo unit that came with the boat and they offered to check the condition for no charge.

I must admit that my original predudice that things cost more on the soulth cost has been undermined as I compare prices for a refit. So far electronics and upholstery have been cheapest there.

More competition and scale, I suppose.

It's berthing that really ups the costs here. Competition for that in the wrong direction :(
