Can anyone offer me any advice on where I can get more info books etc on types of boat, i.e. wood, GP, keels etc. I am as you can tell a newcomer and want to read up and know what I will be looking for when I buy.
Thanks very much

Welcome to the Forums. Most larger chandleries stock a range of books on this subject. On the other hand, if you read the PBO and Classic forums, and the occasional yachting magazine, you will pick up most of what you wish to know in a month or so.

If you are able to fill in a few more details on your bio, e.g. where in the world you live, the size/price range of boat you are looking for, and so on, then you may get more specific answers.

I expect you'll find a book call something like "This is Cruising" in your local library. As long as it's in the yachting section, you'll find it will answer a lot of your questions.

If it's elswhere it might answer some questions tool, but not the same ones.../forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I'd recommend reading all the latest boating mags ... they'll give you a good insight and offer clues about what else you could read ... and then get out onto the water
