just when i thought i was winning with exterior jobs , repairs to roof are done and new rigging fitted, the mast went up yesterday and i even checked the lights i replaced and new wiring to make sure they all worked before mast raised

great thats sorted - nah , blooming vhf dont work now :mad:
triple checked all connections downstairs so i can only think sumat got damaged at top of mast during all the re-wiring etc .

i'm just letting of steam really --- now i either have to find someone brave enough to up ther mast or its gotta come down again FFS,

i'd have a go myself but at nearly 17 stone i think a crane not a bosun's chair would be needed :D:D

unless ......................................................................................................

oh , and theres more  the bog dont work either !!! so that another thing to do , might just leave that in case "millbeach" comes on board :D:D

i did have one peace of luck tho today , a bit ironic really , i found a emergency vhf antenna in a locker that i didnt know was there !!!

Know exactly how you feel :(

Finally got time to enjoy the boat... steering's broken a few teeth (see Whitlock spares thread elsewhere) and batteries are dying on me.

Now started to make a (very short) list of all the bits I haven't replaced yet. Guapa's rapidly turning into Trigger's shovel (only fools and horses) - 30 years old, but hardly any 30 year old bits left.

At least I see I'm not alone; Little Madam came off her forward mooring in an Easterly gale (little protection from that quarter) -long story - had a contra temps with a railway arch. Lifted out in April, during very restricted leisure time 2 hrs a week if weather congenial - I'm a full time carer -managed to get pulpit renovated, fibreglassed holes in deck left by aforementioned pulpit, also gunwhale - finished today, still have to gelcoat and renew part of the rubbing strake and repair spreader and then a general refit - well it keeps me out of mischief!
