Two new aircraft carriers.

Actually in the SW . (note the bit in my bio.) Which translates to be a bit south of Rochefort. Lived out of UK since '75. But still influenced by UK politics. Couldn't think of living in a Lab run UK (apart from the cost) and the French ignore most of the rules that are so keenly inforced in UK.
From what I'v seen, the South of France is not too much of a paradise. Lots of crime, high housing costs and overcrowding in the summer. Might be nice in the winter though.

Sorry,I must have mistaken the 'S' in SW to mean South....

"But still influenced by UK politics." - Why? I presume because you are stll paying UK taxes (since 1975).

"Couldn't think of living in a Lab run UK" - Has there been a Labour Government since 1975? My God, how time flies.....

Poddock, not sure why I have to explain myself to you. But since I think UK politics matters and I have been effected by the current mess, what is the chip on your shoulder?

I'm sure puddock can speak for hiself but it is noticeable how many Brits have fled these shores in recent years.Rather like rats leaving a sinking ship........They benefit from the good times & then complain when the going gets a bit tough.
