Went down to the boat on Wednesday morning and after a breezy trip to Cowes and then a wet journey into Yarmouth, things picked up on Thursday!
Cowes, bright and breezy

No berthing master at Yarmouth (who could blame them) so we found our own spot

A rather different day on Thursday after the fog had lifted

Apologies for the graininess of some pics but iPhones don't seem to do zoom very well.

We were out yesterday for our first trip and it was a gorgeous day. Felt like we pretty much had the whole Solent to ourselves. Didn't go anywhere as such, just a run for a couple of hours as we start to find our feet in the area and to give everything a bit of a shakedown. Proved the worth of automatic bilge pumps when the port engine decided to blow a seal on the water pump. C'est la vie!

Assuming we get it fixed before Wednesday we'll be out for what will probably be the only day off together for a few weeks as SWMBO is changing jobs and initially our days off won't coincide. I've promised her lunch in Cowes so can I pick your brains as to where you moored and any decent real ale pubs with good grub?

We moored at Shepards £12.50 for the day/four hours. Not sure about recommendations for pubs though. Hopefully another forumite will be able to suggest somewhere. The alternative is to go through Cowes and up to the Folly Inn. Classic pub food but in a great setting.
