Hmmmm .... still trying to get my head round this Twitter thingy.

Doesn't seem to have any inbuilt group messaging function which is what I really wanted to achieve.

At the moment I've set it up so that anyone 'following' me (gosh, doesn't that sound biblical) will get tweets of anything new posted on the TMBA website news page.

Anyone else know better?

You're right. In order to see your Tweets automatically, people will need to be following you. Non-followers would have to explicitly search on either the hashtag or your username.

I've had a Twitter account since 2007 but I must admit to not 'getting it' until the last couple of year or so.

Managed to pick up a couple of work projects through it, nothing big but still a bit of a surprise.

I think I have found a way to solve the problem via GroupTweet.

Could one of you 'followers' please send a Twitter message - NOT a tweet - to thamesmobo to see if it works - something like "test for grouptweet" will do.

It should be turned round and go out as a tweet from thamesmobo.

We are on Facebook and Twitter as BananaShark and try and keep it to relevant stuff!

Well the twitter group is now working as I hoped it would and 14 following already.

Anyone following 'thamesmobo' can send a message (not a tweet) to thamesmobo and it will go out immediately as a tweet to all the group.

Should be a good way of getting info out about lock problems, delays, incidents etc.

NOT intended to be a general chat facility so I will 'un-follow' any offenders
