The current battery installation on my S42 is a bank of five batteries housed in a GRP battery box on the starboard side - two for the port engine and three for the starboard engine / domestic supply.
The battery box accommodates the current batteries, which are each 300mm long but I would like to increase this to fit 330mm batteries. Additionally, to offset a slight list to starboard, I intend to switch the two port engine batteries onto the port side of the engine bay. To achieve this, I will need to re-cable the batteries, remove the existing battery box and install a twin battery box to port and a triple battery box to starboard.
However, having searched the internet, I can't seem to come up with any suitable battery boxes. I can't be the first person in history to want to mount a twin / triple battery arrangement in my boat so surely there must be something available. Ideally, I would prefer fairly robust boxes that can be stood / sat on, rather than the usual flimsy plastic items. Does anyone know of something suitable? Any suggestions would be gratefully received!
