Twin Keel Thingies from one of them Westerly Caravans

I propose that the forum come up with a name for this profession. Ballastologist?

With that much experience, I can only imagine how you must have been tittering at some recommendations for keel fixing on here!

What temp do you take them up to prior to painting?

Cheers boguing,

That sounds quite posh i'll take that, i've read a few silly comments but then again i've made a few. With regard temperatures each paint system had a different set of parameters but the minimums for the wests and jotuns epoxy was humidity level of about 50% and air temps of 22 degrees C, got this to a fine art with an army of strategically placed Infra Red heaters and fans extracting and blowing.

I have a few questions for you Roger

how old are you?

how long have you been working on your dad's old boat?

when do you think you will finish?

if you guys want to see an amazing piece of work take a look at rogers site

Old enough to know better, i started this when i was 33 and was earning a very decent living. I envisaged it taking a couple of years then the credit crunch and a random HMRC investigation happened and i've been on the back foot ever since, so a finish sometime in the 21st century is reasonable, currently building a workshop on the side of the shed inbetween paid work and the rain to speed things up abit......well a little.

cheers

I don't.... yet

night watches only for you then

Fine. A rare and beautiful site the sun rising on the ocean. However many times you see it.

And, if I'm honest, I've only seen it a couple of times. And then, it was from a ferry - if seeing it on the Solent doesn't count.

A visual vignette of what i do in my spare time, i haven't annotated anything but it runs chronologically and may help cast a bit of light on the subject......or may not.

roger

I am curious! What year is the Centaur Roger....I seem to have studs at positions where you have material removed from your keels ??Certainly where the rear aperture is. Cant believe the keels varied between A B and C layout... Mine is a Chieftain !
