Twin engines, one oil blacker than other

Twin engined motor boat, recently serviced, new oils, filters etc.

Have run about 10 hours since service and the starboard engine oil is black whilst port still looks translucent like when it comes out of the can (but is going black).

Something going on I should be worried about?

Anything I can test for?

Swallow it and get the oils analysed "now"?

It would cost far more than the exercise would be worth



It could simply be that you drained one engine more completely than the other.

I would say you are a bit gummed up so after getting warm the old residue has blackened the new oil. Leisure engines tend to be run coldish on light loads for longish periods which encouraged gumming up. Try a flushing oil at the next change.I would not be worried unless you are chuffing out soots, smoke and not getting power.
