Twin engine\'d Fairline Holiday

I'm looking to buy a Fairline Holiday and just came accross a TWIN 130 Volvo one. Is this normal I thought they were all originally built with singles and petrols at that. i have heard about putting a diesel replacement in but TWIN petrols ????

Yep Byrons right they were on the original option list but they were not very popular. Heavy installation and terrible engine access main problem. Imagine the fuel bills (And i'm a petrol head!)

Byron old mate
I'm ever amazed at the width of you knowledge. Do you have every boat catalogue and sales hand out ever printed? Haven't got one on the Humber have you, I'd love a copy.

Agree with all previous comments. I had a 1978 Holiday with single volvo 130 which was fine on the river but not really sufficient power for estuary/coastal work when well loaded. Suggest Mercruiser 170 as best compromise ( believe volvo 170 was not their best engine with 3 carbs to balance to add to the fun) or if you can afford the fuel go for the volvo 200 which will give you stacks of power. If price allows go for the later mark III model which was a slight improvement on the earlier model. You will have great fun in any of them with stacks of space for the length with the tardis like interior.

no never towed her although loads of people do with Holidays and at 2t I'd need a bigger car! - just been up and down the river, plan next year is to go down to the tideway - did that with friends in their boat.
