Watchout for LIVING THE DREAM BBC2 8pm. Exec sells house to start a "luxury motor yacht" charter business. Should be good as he seems to know f**k all about boats!!

It seems he sells his exec home so he and wifey can run a charter busuness on the river Mayen in Mexico.

"There are two big problems. First its a tough market, and second, Anthony is not ideally suited to the job. Here is someone who could have walked straight out of a play by Alan Ayckbourn, which-although makes hilarious tv -does not bode well for the business"

Yup its not to be entered into lightly I can confirm that. Takes a lot of cost, effort and knowhow

IMVHO Mexico is a great place for living -if you go to the right areas, its so uncontrolled its fantastic, problem is is that the 'best' places can also be highly lawless so its always good to be 'in' with the right people

and his only saving grace was...

...the fact he had money in bucket loads to chuck at this project and money in bucket loads for new projects if that one doesn't pan out.

Damn, there goes that colour change again...

Well I found it all rather boring, the guy seemed to have done almost no research, all seemed a bit whim and a prayer effort.

I especially liked the bit where they set off into the unknown with 230 miles to go with a hurricane forecast! + no safe havens along the way!!

And how do you track the boat with a handheld GPS when sleeping on a beach?

Still they did have a half day charter in the whole 6 months!

What I couldn't understand was why they didn't buy an American boat and RIB, why go to all the expense and risk of shipping from the UK. As evidenced by the 40K write off for the RIB. Hope it was insured!

Came back to work in his factory and part time in , well, wherever he was. Brilliant new idea was a boat sales business.

given the opening statement "we have it all financially but are doing this for quality of life" - with which we could all I suspect agree - to 7 weeks away/4 weeks back home(in Mexico) but on the phone....quality of life posponed big time

I watched it last night after the pub, will have to watch it again, it did not seem that big inside, hence why i thought F37, but I am sure you are right.

I watched it with interest, parts made me cringe, the man beggars belief. He' obviously no mug when it comes to making a few bob but If I was him I would stay away from boats & stick to making rubber mats. Did you see how he wrapped the boat to the first mooring he did'ent even put a hitch in it. & earlier
he couldent tell whether the engines were running or not. ....Amazing

2655 ! You can tell me, I'm a Docter !
