TV to the laptop.

I have one of those Glomax jobbies with amplifier and I'd say don't waste your money, it's rubbish. I get a better reception by sticking a fork in the aerial socket. It's true!!!

Of course - I was thinking that 1.5GHz processor = old = USB1.0, but I guess that is a Centrino mobile process with big cache and other architectural tweaks which woud be a newer machine and hence USB 2.0. (processor speed alone doesnt say enough nowadays with the various architectures, dual-core and Core 2 processors, which is probably why it runs OK)

The laptop (spec is for 1.6Gb with 256 Mb ram and XP and usb 2.0) plus the maplin kit, plus a decent aerial and you are away!

If you are in decent digital coverage it is superb.

KevB- thanks for your feedback ... like most primary products these days, the thing you buy tends to be a properly working commodity but the ancillaries, in this case the antenna, is the real gotcha. Glomax has other UHF/an-dig antennae but so too do others ... Anyone with a good rec?

like most things, aerials are available at the low end of performance as well as much better, just a question of the amount of money! Glomex are no different, just look at the db rating versus price of their different versions.

every time, yawn, why do the anti's go to such extremes to complain what other people do in the privacy of their own saloons.

I also like to have sex, watch films, smoke, drink and many other things while on board, do I need permission from the forum police.

Is there is definitive list of what is / is not acceptable behaviour on board. Must we all pickle our livers in the sailing club?

Sorry, but this type of rubbish appears every time somebody dares suggest they are fitting a television to their boat. Yes it winds me up a bit now. Why not stop fence peeping and getting on with your own fun on your boats.

Rant over!

I apologise for my harsh response Mr Talk, but I have just been reading some of the bigotry in the lounge and am fairly wound up. I still stand by the how does it personally affect you if someone does something different to what you enjoy on board?

Not had much success with my WinTV NOVA-T on USB2.0. It all works OK but just when you are in the middle of something interesting it does the BSOD.

It still does it with all other hardware disabled. 2G Mobile Pentium.

Certainly helps reduce TV watching.

Ah - but does SWMBO do the same - or does she want to watch Emmerdale, Eastenders & Coronation Street?

[/ QUOTE ]

If swmbo spends her evenings watching that sort of tripe, then maybe it would be a more interesting trip with another companion

[/ QUOTE ]No need to apologise Doggie, I thought it was a very high quality rant - straight to the point and no waffle !!

I have reverted to my policy of not posting on controversial threads in The Lounge, despite how strongly I feel either way on the subjects.

I too enjoy sex, drinking, eating, reading, etc on the boat, quite often more than at home. That is why I find it difficult to understand why people who normally talk a lot of sense on here, including you and the other twin-hulls, bother to look at the crap on the TV while on board.

Each to his own - I will endeavour to 'bite my lip' in future.

Yeah, you were probably blinking at the time !! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

One of the best aspects of the Moody 346 is that the aft cabin allows for normal marital activities , ie going to straight to sleep, about 5 seconds after hitting the pillow !!!
