Is it possible, if so how to use a laptop to display a TV picture? I have a portable Sat setup which has a scart output. Could this be converted somehow to give a signal and fed into a laptop?
Thinking along the lines of a scart to Video/audio cable then a USB video capture thingy.

lots of USB DTV receivers on eBay. Fed with an external aerial they work OK on most laptops.

The boat is in France, I have tried a DTV but the signal is too weak, I really want to feed the Sat signal in.

The USB DTV devices are ALL rubbish. That's my opinion, none work, hardly any get a signal, especially in this country. Avoid!

I just use our Vodafone 3G+ modem in the UK and watch the BBC, Iplayer etc...works a treat...

With all due respect I have to reply and tell you that I cannot agree that "The USB DTV devices are ALL rubbish" ‘cos in my experience I am completely happy with two I've bought. These were both bought cheap through E-bay. The first was for myself and used on a laptop in my boat with a cheapo caravan type aerial/amplifier. This would be temporarily hoisted up to the spreaders on my boat when alongside and used mainly, but not exclusively, around the Humber area. I was so pleased with the reception and coverage that I bought the second for my wife for use in a camper van. Again it worked brilliantly.

Yes it is possible, I am doing exactly what you want. I have a KWORLD DV3 TV tuner which also has a Composite Video and audio inputs, all on phono sockets. The software provided allows you to select the composite input (you can also record programmes). It is then just a case of buying a Scart to Phono connector, plug it in and it all should work. I am on the Vilaine river in France watching satellite TV using a Maplins portable satellite kit.

Your doing something wrong then, my £19 cheapy will given a decent aerial give stunning pics.

The little aerial supplied with it is useless though wouldn't even work 2 miles from Dover transmitter (line of sight)
