Keep it for the use you want, and forget about the license.
If they catch you, which is higly unlikely, just buy a license then.
They are far more interested in chasing people with an address with no license.

I thought you had to be a British citizen to Part 1 register your boat. I therefore assume that someone other than you registered the boat.

Would it not be the person on the register that would be prosecuted in the very unlikely event that they did come looking?

It's much more likely that Ofcom instead would check for radio licences and that's not very probable.

You only need a tv licence if you require the TV to watch live broadcasts.

Or if you use a PC with an internet connection to do the same...

I'm surprised the authorities do it like this. It seems a very inefficient way to fund state television. Why don't they just take it out of general tax revenues?

Because it gives the public a legitimate way to avoid paying for certain TV channels : don't use a TV and don't buy a license. Other "free to air" TV channels are paid for by the public without the option. (Through advertising, since you ask).

It certainly was the case that in order to have Part1 registration the vessel had to be owned by a British Company or British citizen so yes I suspect the Jobsworth would chase the owning company if he could find it

Seems they might be giving out Part 1 to anyone who asks????
