Another vote for "leave it alone".
I expanded on my reasons in this post.
I wish I'd thought of Vyv_Cox's points relating to splash/jet lubrication of the bores & small ends at the time to complete the picture.
Obviously if you're only hand cranking there's no condensation, etc. and the loadings on the bearings will be lower, but the sliding contact between the cams and their followers will still take place.
