Any info about berth availability please? Are annual berths readily available, is it possible to 'buy' a berth for a number of years at a sensible price? Any recommendations very, very welcome.
Thanks.

In Turkey there are many berths available on annual contracts but I've not heard of any for lease. I know the coast from Marmaris to Antalya and there isn't a problem getting annual berths.

There are several marinas in or near Marmaris, at least 3 in Gocek, a new one at Fethiye, and ones in Finike, Kemer and Antalya.

I can get you some telephone numbers/email addresses if you need them.

I kept my boat at Finike for 2 years and was very satisfied with the facilities and staff.

For Croatia, plenty of information can be found at http://www.aci-club.hr.
There are some other marinas which do not belong to the ACI association, but this gives you a good overview.

If you go to my website (link below) you will find a lot of information on Croatia. In particular, look under Port Reports for Croatia 2001

We are now in Turkey where we have take out a 12 month contract for a 10.7m boat including lifting, pressure wash, storage ashore and lowering for under £900. Eat your heart out Solent Sailors!

MapisM's link will take you to the leading Croatian marina company, but there are one or two others (notably in Zadar - see link below), I've not heard of berths for sale, but plenty of annual contracts are on offer. If you're interested, you'd probably be best off in one of the bigger towns such as Split, Zadar or Dubrovnik, which all offer good communications (Split and Dubrovnik have airports) and are well protected from the bora. Security is not an issue.

Thanks for all the helpful and informative web links. Brilliant! Good to see that there are lots of berths available at sensible prices. Just hope we can get thro' the Spanish and French med. area without inflicting too much damage: financially.

Thanks again.

Wow. £900 for a year in a marina including a lift out? Sounds too good to be true!!
Maybe we can keep our boat after all....

Boat storage-Turkey

I noticed your post and experience in Turkey. Can you advise reputable marina in Southern Turkey that could accommodate dry storage of my 56' power boat for next winter?
Thank you

Re: Boat storage-Turkey

I kept my boat at the Setur Finike marina for 2 years. They have a large travelhoist (60t I think) and a large secure hardstanding. The staff are very friendly, helpful and proficient. They mainly work with yachts although I have seen a few large motor yachts ashore and many very large gulets which get lifted for a few weeks each year while they are refitted for the season. The taxis based at the marina provide inexpensive transport to and from Antalya airport.
Their web site is www.seturmarinas.com

The Netsel marina in Marmaris seems to be base for more motor yachts of all sizes and therefore may have more local expertise, but is more expensive. Their site is www.netselmarina.com
Setur also has a marina with travelhoist close to Antalya but is further from the best cruising area which really starts once you get west of Finike.
There are at least 2 other marinas with travelhoists and storage areas in Marmaris bay which friends with yachts have found satisfactory but I don't know about large motor yachts.
PM me if you would like more information.
Henry
