We're currently in Çeşme heading north probably as far as Avalik. I have an Imray Heikell guide but it's well out of date and Navily and Turkishcoastguide.com have little or no information on the Karaburun peninsula. So if anyone can recommend sheltered anchorages between Çeşme and Foca I'd be grateful.

Might be better posting on the liveabord section or possibly the mobo one.

I’ve not sailed in that area, but I do know that Uzun Ada, an island to the east of the peninsula in the bay of Izmir was occupied by the British Mediterranean fleet in WWI

Thanks Uzun Ada is, as you say, on the east side and well down into İzmir Bay which is a very busy shipping area and has a TSS which I'd rather avoid. Ideally I'm looking for anchorages on the west coast of Karaburun.

Anchorages don't go out of date so an old Heikell is hardly a disadvantage. Otherwise use Google Earth which I have found to be every bit as useful as any book.
