Tufnol track on newbridge navigator

Does anyone know if you can still buy Tufnol track. We have tried everywhere. We can get stainless steel but ours has a slight curve on it. This is for the Genoa sail. <span style="color:blue"> </span>

Seem to remember that the company was sold out years ago during one of the thatcher's more visible psychotic phases - Gawd knows who owns it now.

Silly question - try www. [search] tufnol - you might get 248708776 hits - but one of them could be correct - Tufnol is a trade mark

1. I doubt if it is still made but it may be worth posting this on the Classic Boat forum. If anyone knows the answer they'll be a regular there.

2. This is the kind of thing that you may be able to find at Beaulieu Boat jumble.

3. Couldn't you fit an aluminium track, and bend it to shape?

I bought some tufnol direct from the manufacturers to use on rudder stock bearings.

Thanks for the reply, tried them, they can only supply in sheet form and then it has to be machined very accurately. Will probably have to use stainless steel track without the bend.

Admittedly I had to buy a "block" of the stuff and I then machined it myself. Can't you get an engineer to machine some for you?

I used it for rudder stock bearings about 7-8 years ago and they're still as good as the day I fitted them.

If you don't get tufnol and have to resort to something else, you talk about stainless. I haven't seen stainless track. Do you mean alloy? Its commonly available and can be shaped to slight curves yourself.

When I was a fitting a boat out about ten years ago, I seem to remember that several of the manufacturers product notes said that they could preform their alloy tracks. You need to specify the curve (in both directions if the deck is cambered as well). I can't imagine it being a radical curve for a genoa track....
