Tudor Heavy Battery advice / Info Please.

they are not UK supplied but the foreign websites indicate they have anti-spill caps and are made by Exide.

Looks like they are sealed. This from the France Battery website for that product (my emphasis)

Tudor batteries, series Professional, battery type of 12V 180Ah , with starting current of 1000 CCA. This is a new series of batteries that are in the first place by performance and security. The needs of today’s busses, trucks and commercial vehicles for electrical energy (batteries) are greater than ever. This includes air conditioning, GPS, electrical doors, lifts, TV etc. All of these previously listed equipment is in need of so-called Deep Cycle batteries (Deep Cycle= A long, deep cycle). By the use of the robust construction of plates and covers of glass/silk, we managed to get a battery that can meet these stringent requirements. STE is a new type of cap that has many advantages such as, for example: no risk of acid leakage, minimal risk of explosion caused by external flame, sparks.- Deep Cycle – Long Cycle discharge (level E3);
- High resistance to vibration (level V3);
- STE cap (Sealed Technology);
- Evolution (Evolution of Sealed Technology);
-
Enhanced starting power (CCA);
- Maintenance-free Because of the proven technology, Heavy Duty Battery becomes a good choice of starter batteries for everyday use;
- Meets the EN standard 50342;
- Normal starting power (CCA);
- Handles for easy transport;
- Maintenance-free.

Surprisingly the brochure http://www.exide.com/Media/files/Downloads/TransEuro/CV/CV_Tudor/EXIDE_CV_TUDOR_Leaflet_EN.pdf doesn't clarify this but really MF is a marketing rather than technical aspect, any modern battery is likely to be MF unless frequently rapid charged at high voltages.
The plugs look as though they should unscrew in the pic but they may just be pressed in.
Note this battery is only recommended for starting not cycling work. They give it a life of 90 cycles.
Sorry can't give a firmer answer.

The conclusion I came to was that the TF range has spill proof caps while the TG has standard caps.

No indication anywhere that I found of it being "maintenance free"

It seems an odd choice except as a starter battery for a very large engine

According to Exide's literature, it's a standard flooded battery - it's not maintenance free. As Plevier said, it's a starter battery, not suited to deep cycling.

It has become a real pain that it is now so difficult to establish the simple question as to whether a battery CAN or CANNOT be topped up!......other than physically looking at the actual one you are about to buy. A pity, because I would generally much prefer to buy online . (cheaper/fresher/more convenient).
