so pleased - our first solo (her and me) tidal trip. Imperial Wharf to Limehouse at the turn of the tide. i messed up leaving IW but made up for it with my entrance to Limehouse. i did the easy bit wrong and the hard bit spot on. Very odd. A small concern on the tidal run was a drop in oil pressure. It was negative at one point! i dropped the revs and we got here fine. Oil level is fine, the viscosity is right, and when I started her on the mooring the pressure looked fine.

The best bit is who we met on entering the marina: The Princess Matilda. i have a great shot of her and Mr Spall but cannot post it via iPad. SWMBO had a nice bit of banter with her opposite number.

Hmmm...when thrashed, our Perkins loses oil pressure on idle, but it returns when the engine cools. I suspect a higher viscosity can be used, but it certainly has enough pressure by 800rpm.

You might have a sticky oil pressure valve, or defective switch, as the engine would have failed if it was non existent! Not a huge worry IMHO. ;)

Gavi, if your oil pressure gauge is all electric rather than a bourdon tube type you may have a wiring/ earthing fault that is manifesting itself at higher revs or rougher waters....

Electric and exactly what someone else has said. i will head out with confidence tomorrow and only look at the temp gauge!

Ah, tomorrow. once we have recovered from tonight. i am so impressed by the bars around Limehouse. Just met a Dutchman in one who had solo raggied from where Dutch people come from. Had a great chat with him in the bar and have just noticed that he is moored next to us. I have fulled the fridge.
