I now keep my small inflatable SIB tender blown up all the time on a trailer. I noticed the other day in the morning that the tubes were somewhat soft. I left it and in later on the day they were quite hard. This was obviously to do with the air temp.

I was wondering how boaters with larger ribs deal with the fluctuations in tube pressure due to air temp. It is obviously important what the temp is when you blow up your boat

We keep our RIBS at about 3psi
4 are normally afloat and 1 ashore
whilst ashore they do expand and contract a little more
Such is the UK weather we have never had a problem with any drastic changes!
If we do get a heatwave the boats all have pressure relief valves just in case

A local RIB repairer was telling me on a very hot weekend that they will be flat out the next week because people will have pumped their inflatables up in lower temps and forget to left them down a bit on hot days, he can literally predict his business based on the weather forecast. It does of course get a lot hotter here in Australia than the UK, that was a 40+ degree weekend. On hot days they go out and let air out of the RIBS they have on display.
