Very scary. The amateur videos are the first footage I've seen that really show what the waves were like. Thanks for the links.

There are also good animations and graphics showing the size, time of arrival, plate tectonics, etc of the tsunami at http://www.nytimes.com/packages/html/international/20041227_QUAKE_FEATURE/index.html. Gives a good idea of how very quickly and ruthlessly it all happens.
