Trying to get the boat back in the water

Hi Guys,

With a combination of work, baby and bad weather days I am left desperately trying to get the boat back in the water for at least part of the summer.

I need to anti foul her and was after advice on what best to do. The marina pressure washed the bottom when she came out but there is just a small area to scrape of. Once this is done do you use primers before the anti foul? Also how many coats of anti foul would you use?

if you have areas which are back to gelcoat then primer and antifoul (I always put 2 thin coats of antifoul on and I use a hard antifoul as it is best for me but it all depends on where boat is moored as to wether you use hard or soft antifoul also keels if metal I always red oxide and then antifoul as it save them blistering
but this is only my opinion and im just a simple plumber but have done a lot boat work

Just slop some antifoul on an go sailing. I did mine on a tide this year- jet washed last year's fouling off, left it to dry, slapped new paint on and waited for the tide to come back in.

That's all I did last year. Dried out on the slip, quick pressure wash as the tide,went out. Had a cuppa. Slapped a single coat of the cheapest anti foul on, checked anodes (good for another year I hope) had another cuppa and floated off with the next tide.

It's just barnacle food after all and doesn't work however carefully I apply the stuff so don't worry about it. It'll need doing again next year in any case!

That's seems a lot simpler. There's me looking at different rent anti fouls, primers......... It was getting stupid.

So since you meantioned it when should you replace the anode? I'm ine looks corroded which I assume it would but it retains the original shape and still solid.

Leave the anode until it is 50% gone.
