1) Go to Google.com;
2) type in (but don't hit return): "weapons of mass destruction";
3) Hit the "I'm feeling lucky" button, instead of the normal "Google
search" button;
4) read what appears to be a normal error message carefully.

Re: Thanks!

Well, it's been doing the rounds for a fair while now, and Google haven't done anything about it yet.

Re: well and truly hacked

Not hacked, it's perfectly legitimate.

The website is www.coxar.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

Google ranks by the number of other websites that link to that website. So the BBC for instance would always rate highly (one of the reasons that Google is not the best search engine to use when looking for obscure information, as it does not rank obscure websites highly)

This particular 404 message page is highly popular, and people everywhere are posting links to it, so it has been ranked the highest of all the websites that Google shows when you type 'weapons mass destruction' as the search criteria.

You can see which sites are linking to it by going to google and typing the following as the search words:

link:www.coxar.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

Why woud Google want to do anything about it, they are just a search engine and there is nothing wrong with it. It is just a (funny) webpage and hardly contentious compared with some of the things I am told you can find on the web!
