Trumpet type air vents, any use in hot climes

Just wondering........ I see that one can buy Vetus electric fan for ventilation. Has anyone retrofitted an electric fan into the Plastimo type dorade to force a flow of air? Wouldn't that be better than the little cabin fans that simply move air around the cabin?

We fitted a small computer fan (from the recycle) into our heads' dorade. You have to turn the cowl to whatever mode is required, ie. suction - out or into the wind, for best results. I love these fans, there cheap, quiet and hardly use any power. I have also hooked one up to the fridge cooling coils so that it comes on when the fridge is running. It assists cooling and evacuating the warm air and has had a significant effect on run time.

I think you need a powerful fan to create an air flow to generate a cooling ( through draft) effect. I had hoped that something like that would be effective below decks in the evening when the outside temp had gone down but below deck was still hot. I got the biggest fan that I could fit under a standard deck vent but it was not too effective!
On our marina berth we now enjoy air conditioning!
