Tru Design Through Hulls and Ball Valves

Have all you chaps done a DIY job with your seacocks replacement? I'm gathering from the responses that they are not bedded in Sikaflex - how is it done? And more importantly, for the DIY'ers, how did you remove the old seacocks? Angle grinder on the outside fitting?

No, we paid for it.

AFAIK, a angle grinder was used from the outside of the hull.
A crosscut was done, then big hammer and chisel.

For a nice neat job, if you use a hole saw the same size (or close) as the OD of the skin fitting it will neatly remove the outer flange, you can centre it either with a wooden bung knocked in or my preference is for another hole saw the same size as the bore, either screwed on the mandrell (as I have heard some will take it) but I use an Ooops arbour replacing the pilot drill but only because I have some.

Did our through hulls, seacocks and tails last winter. Most of the old ones came out OK after removing the small screws hidden under antifoul but one needed grinding off. Used Sika on the through hulls (alternative is to epoxy them in) and Hawke White pipe jointing compound on the threads.
