On occasion these miniature storms form a revolving dumbell with another area of low pressure nearby. When these two are combined the effect is many times what would be expected.

The 'Fujiwhara effect', I believe....

Very interesting while it lasted. Grace isn't a record breaking storm or anything like that, but to see a storm 'eye' and characteristics so close to Ireland is a very rare event.

I see the UK met office is forecasting heavy rain for the south coast.
