. . . Elsa was 'only' a tropical storm before she arrived here, but then was later upgraded to a hurricane when she got here - even though she was 'only' a Cat 1, many houses here lost roofs or were even demolished, and many trees came down, along with some poles for electricity and telephone.
God forbid, as you mentioned, that a Cat 5 hits Barbados like Irma and Maria hit the Leewards.
Thankfully we were only on the outskirts of both and that was bad enough.

Post some pictures when you can

Hi Bajansailor. How's it all going ? Is the power back on ? things returning to normal ?

Thanks for checking up on me - our power came back on last Friday night, after being off for 7 1/2 days. And surprisingly we were not the last to be re-connected - I know some folk who got their power back on Tuesday finally, and there might even be some isolated areas that still have no power.
Things are pretty much 'back to normal' - although Corona has taken off again in the past couple of weeks, and we have another soft lockdown in place with a curfew from 2300 - 0500.
There are strict rules about weddings, funerals and social gatherings, yet churches are still allowed to have up to 100 souls attend in person, despite one of the recent clusters being a church group where about 25 or 30 people were found to be positive, including their leaders who are both self styled 'Apostles' (and call themselves thus)
As the American folk to the north of us might say, 'go figure'...........
But church is big business here - and the church ministers much prefer to see $100 bills raining down on their collection trays rather than online pledges - and I suppose that there is more scope for 'creative accounting' when you are dealing with cash rather than card payments.

Can I refer the honorable gentleman to Mr Max Romeo’s excellent song on the subject, “Stealing in the name of Jah” ?

We had the good fortune to see Max Romeo at a brilliant gig he performed here in St Germain en Laye in 2019; still in really fine voice at 75 years old.

He is, though, a real old testament style Rasta. Towards the end of the concert he had convinced most of the audience that we were going to burn in hell fire for eternity.

Fortunately, he ended the set with an uplifting medley of Ska classics, so we were able to depart with our morale restored.
