Monday and Tuesday were public holidays here, so went fishing yesterday.

We were trolling four lines.

One 20 feet from the stern, second about 40 feet back, third about 60 feet back and a long line about 200 feet back.

Reels were 114H Penn Senators and one Penn International 80TW.

Three lines with brand new lures, including an iland lure

, the fourth was an old beat-up lure with a very rusty hook. . . . . . . . and which one caught the fish below?

We also caught a small Tuna and three Barracuda's, we gave away the Barracuda's.

We got some advice in Bequia to let the line out as far as practical - none of this two boat length stuff and after that nearly always caught something. Little pink rubber squids seemed to be the best lure. This season was fantastic with Wahoo, Mahimahi , Tuna barracuda etc. We even had a giant Marlin but luckily he got away, far to dangerous to haul over the back of a yacht. Looks like a big Spanish mackerel in the photo but why throw away the Baccarudas?? South of St Vincent they are all fine - no cigiauterra and even North the little ones are safe. and they taste fantastic. Why do i wish I was back there now????

It is a big Spanish mackerel.

The Barracudas around here (St.Kitts/ Leewards) are prone to be poisonous/ciguatera.
Local saying is "If it is longer than your arm them it is going to do you harm".
There are a number of individuals here that take the risk, although the smaller ones are less likely to have accumulated the poison.
