Trojan Powerline T105 AGM charge voltage settings

I am about to install a bank of 4 oT105 AGm's.

The spec sheet states the charge voltage can be between 14.1v and 14.7v, my inclination is to set at the higher 14.7v setting as this should charge th batteries quicker?

But is there any other advantage in setting it to charge at a lower voltage?

Also the float (finish) charge is stated as 14.7v, this is considerably higher than the 13.2v for the lead acid T105's, I'm curious as to why such a big difference?

Ask Trojan's technical guys. They were very helpful with my queries about the flooded T105s and they don't just quote the sales blurb. I queried equal. charging as older documentation didn't agree with newer nformation and comments made by a VP on you-tube. Technical guys confirmed that older documentation was correct and perhaps VPs suggestion was to cover people who never looked at their charging regime (i.e. make them do it whether needed or not). They also confirmed that 12V deep cycle range were only expected to give 50% cycles of T105, so actually very poor value vs 6V option.

Prtty certain they'll give a good reply (unless already sacked by a VP for telling the truth ).

These Powerline T-105 batteries aren't actually branded "Trojan", although the Tayna website claims they're manufactured by Trojan. But the photo of the battery on the Tayna website shows the battery is made by "MCA Battery Manufacture Co Ltd", one of China's biggest battery manufacturers. I doubt that Trojan have anything to do with these Powerline batteries.

Datasheet says float is 6.8 - 6.9v so 13.6 - 13.8v for a 12v pair.

Won't last long on 14.7 float I reckon. Do report back with your exprience of these batteries.

Yes, that's the voltage recommended on the Powerline data sheet. The OP was under the impression these are Trojan batteries, which is where he found the higher voltages.

Looks as if company making them is trying to capitalise on Trojan's reputation by referring to them as T-105. I've seen others call their batteries T-105 but first time I've seen AGMs sold as "manufactured by Trojan".

I'd just buy genuine T-105s for a fraction of the price and maintain them properly. Of course OP might need to mount them upside down or fit somewhere it would be difficult to check electrolyte.

Tayna have a good reputation, but it concerns me that they always seem to promote the Enduroline range of batteries as a better alternative to almost anything you look at. My guess is that they aren’t very good, but the margins are high.

Enduroline is their own brand, like Powerline, so Tayna are the only people selling them. They'll no doubt get them made in China.

I have the Powerline in the car ready to fit, and I'm not of the frame of mind to return them, and will just trust that Tanya would only supply a quality product. Maybe I am being naive.

It's hard to establish what the truth is, Tanya do claim on their website that the are made by Trojan, you would think that if they weren't then the Trojan lawyers would be all over them like a rash.

But then as pointed out by pvb, the batteries do have a Chinese companies label on them, which seems pretty definitive.

I'll fit the Powelines, look after them, and time will tell what the quality is.

I fitted Enduroline batteries which lasted about three years max. I never discharged them past 60-70% but they died all three of them.
I didn’t buy them again, as the saying goes ‘you pays your money’

I have jus spoken with Tayna, they have agreed to refund the Powerlines and I'll order the 6V-AGM Trojan batteries instead, for the price difference the Trojan's seem a better bet.

They were quick to do that, but I did take a screenshot of the previous description. Not that I needed it, they agreed to exchange without hesitation. I wouldn't think there was any deliberate attempt to mislead, just someone not 100% on their product knowledge.

And it's probably just coincidental that they decided to call it "T-105"!

The Powerline T105s have been punted as made by Trojan for quite some time - definitely not an odd employee lacking product knowledge.
