Trip to st.kats from Harwich

Im planning a trip to St Kats, weather permitting end of March. Looking at charts, we could go out to NE Gunfleet and down the barrow - or down the wallet and then the middle deep and west swin. Is there a preferred route?
We draw 1.8m and should be able to scrape over the spit way if we go via the wallet.
Plan to stop over at Queensborough and anchor somewhere

spitway > whitticker > Mid Maplin >Maplin > Stangate creek to get a favourable tide up the Thames.
Limehouse Basin is cheaper & more accessible then St Katts

Hi Will,

We did that 2 years ago, I don't know if there is a preferred route, but we went via the Wallet, Spitway and W.Swin to Queenborough.

That was fine with no problems. I am sure there are other views though.

We are going to St Kat's again late June, between Jubilee and Olympics, Jan is looking forward to it as she loved St Kat's last time.

Sailorman's route would be mine as well. Anchor in Stangate, as mentioned, or pick up a buoy in Queenboro. The All Tide Landing ( a pontoon with hammerhead) is operational, so you could tie up there for a trip ashore to shop or pub - not likely to be busy at that time of year.

We did as Leigh suggested and similarly two summer 's ago. Memorable for many reasons as was first trip up the Thames however made more so as we had a near lightening strike just off the Medway. Queenboro seemed tremendous having quaffed a few G and T's in celebration of surviving part from static blast that blew our anemometer out.
It is a bit of a slog but well worth it with plenty of sights to tick off.
On return we refuelled at the barge just down from St Kat's.

I was at Limehouse on Friday and noticed that they are doubling the number of pontoons in the basin.

Make sure you phone first - when we were at St Kats last year there was a notice saying there were NO visitor berths available in the summer months of 2012!

We booked some time ago thanks. That notice was in fact misleading, I thought it odd that they would have no space between the Jubilee in early June and the Olympics in late July, and when I phoned them they said "as long as you want to come between 10th and 30th June we have berths, just send us the details in the usual way and we will book you in".

I don't know what the situation is now though.
