Trip down the Thames to Wallisea and back

Looking to do a trip to change a boat. Coming down the Thames and around to Essex Marina. Anyone recommend any good books to get to help with the passage planning? Or good way points to pick to keep out of trouble (or a passage plan from a 'regular') I'm used to the welsh coast which is no where near as congested so not sure what to expect.
It'll be a mobo and had anticipated taking a couple of days each way so I don't need to blat (it's also going to be my 'summer holiday').Will probably happen early September weather willing and hope this may become a regular thing to get out on to the east coast. Only just put the current boat of the non tidal Thames at Shepperton.
I've already put a similar post on the Thames forum so apologies to those who monitor that forum too. :-).

I'll let you know in a week! (Bertha willing we're heading up to St Kats for a few days and then back to the Crouch next weekend. First time up the Thames)
 
Ha ha, thanks. Good luck! We are probably going to do an overnight mooring somewhere too, Queensborough? Luckily only an hour above Teddington so can get on the tidal Thames quite quickly and then a couple of hours to St Kats (that's as far as I've been down the Thames).

Hi Dave - I answered your post on the other thread. If you want some specific waypoints, I'm happy to send you the ones I use when coming out of the Crouch and around Whittaker. I'll look them up over the weekend and pm them to you. Recommend you get a copy of the East Coast Pilot which is full of really good info and deatiled info on the Thames and the Crouch - including the passage options between.

Thanks for the further info, that's why I added the bit about it being on the other thread in case you thought I was going mad (although I've always been a little bit mad!) as you had already responded, grateful for the info. I'm waiting for the charts to arrive for the area and I'll order the Pilot book too. I'm only nervous about this trip because I haven't planned it yet and it's still the 'unkown' lol. Thanks again.
 
What do you draw?
I ask because it is possibke to cut off a lot of the distance to the Whittaker and back by cutting across Foulness Sands at HW or nearabouts. They are very even and gently shallow from S to N.

Be wary about berthing at Essex Marina if the tide is running fast... Usually at its strongest shortly befor and after HW..
 
Hi. 1.14m on the boat going to and 1.04 on the boat coming from. Although it's taking so long to sort this one out it may be too late in the season to navigate the Thames so may be irrelevant :-). Hoping to get down there in the next couple of weeks to do the sea trial and then another 3-4 weeks to do the work we need doing, so looking likely to be October now! Hopefully we can plan something reasonable up the east coast for next season to make up for it. Thanks for the reply.
