Trimtabs

[ QUOTE ]
My only other problem with them is the trim buttons only go "one way"...what I mean by that is that when you press the port tab button the tab goes down, but only down. if you overdo it then you have to put the tabs up all the way and start again.

Er, are you sure? Mine have up and down buttons and each side has 20 stages of trim. Very udjustable and you dont have to reset to go up either...

Ditto, I have them and they go up and down and they work asymetrically as well to adjust from side to side so when you press down on one the other moves the opposite direction if you say have both trim tabs down say to half to start with. They do work very well and are very responsive, althoguh I keep getting a calibration error on one tab but it doesn't seem to effect the use of them.

ah, but you never actually need to do that. What you want to do is make the port side come up a bit/drop the starboard side, so you hit 'port up' button and the tabs will sort them out. you never actually have to know what position the tabs are in to be honest.

When you make a corrects for lateral (side to side) movement it always moves two tabs if as you describe you have a bit of tan on each. it will actually move them at 0.5 point intervals, if you want to shift the trim 1 on starbord, it will actually drop the port tab 0.5 and retract the stbrd tab 0.5 This is so that should you wish to tab the nose down or up you are never in the position where one tab is all the way down thus affecting the lateral trim.

It works perfectly if you just use the four buttons - if you think about it you dont need anything else

Nope...being a bit dim I think.

4 buttons. Port down or "+", Sbd down/+, nose up, nose down.

Tabs are set at Port +3 and Sbd +5.

I want to get Port +3 and Sbd +2.

Walk me through it, Jez...I am probably being a numpty but pressing Sbd only increases the Sbd blade position (because it shows it going from 0-7) maybe both tabs move even though it looks like only one is but still the problem that I want the Sbd to be at+2.

How?
