Think it could be Dragonfly that moors on the pontoon opposite looking at the Shotley webcam. He has only had it a few months :grumpy:

But if the lines holding the floats in position came undone, the float could swing back and the mast would loose most of its support..

Yes, it's him..... Brand new dragonfly 28.. Saw it delivered a couple of months ago....
The mast doesn't appear to have been broken... Looks like the whole lot has come down in one piece.... It was a bit gusty around then... But nothing serious....

we saw around 16kts apparent. it has to be a fundamental rig issue, unsecured clevis pin ???

Hi,
Newbie here, just joined. Thought I'd reply to this - I was sitting on a mooring buoy outside Shotley when this was going on, heard it on the VHF then later saw the dismasted boat followed by the inshore LB making their way over from Harwich to Shotley. We stayed in Shotley marina that night and she was moored up near the lock gates. Sorry sight really. It was a bit gusty that morning but hard to imagine it was enough to cause such damage...

16 kts. Yes, probably seen about the same earlier before we moored up for a cuppa and a bacon sarnie... we'd had first reef in and a no 4 jib, was ample.
