Trim gauge problem

Ahoy,
We have a 115hp yamaha o/b (2002). However, out of the blue a few weeks ago, the trim gauge stopped functioning properly. Now, when it is trimmed fully down, the gauge shows 4 bars rather than 0 as before.
Ive had a nose around and all looks in order.
Any suggestions?

its electric im fairly sure. thanks for that link!

If its electric they sometime work on a timer to give position indication, ie 8secs on the down button = 100% and vice versa. If not your looking for some sort of feedback device that may be attached to the actuator or may be internal.

I'm having probs with my tabs and the best course I can recommned (apart from the web site) is to get as much info, eg manufacturer, Serial No, etc, as you can and search the web. Your boat my also have a wiring diagram showing the tab wiring.
