....and it does'nt seem to recognise it - works fine with laptop with Garmin Mapsource so once again I'm a bit confused.

Joanne says I'm being typically geeky but I just wanted to see where the house is.

Any ideas please?

Ah that makes sense Tony - do you mean adjust the Garmin handheld settings?

Thanks

Yep, in the settings bit of the Garmin.

Once you've done that you may need to retsart the notebook. I've one that works fine, the other needs a restart.

<hr width=100% size=1>my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

Thank you Tony I think we've cracked it - adjusted to NMAEA within the GPS set

I can now go back to geeky persuits

My bro had the same problem. Basically the older versions of Autoroute don't list the newer versions of Garmins. He got hold of a later copy of Autoroute and that works fine with it. I tried it on my old version and it did'nt work. Updated to newer version and heypresto it works.

I am not allowed to test it this evening as Joanne is fed up with me hanging the GPS out of the open window.

Perhaps our next house should have a conservatory for this purpose

Thanks again

Nice to know a bit of first hand experience is welcome. I'll keep that in mind next time you phone up and ask something!

Alternative is that you buy Garmin Metroguide Europe for use with Mapsource. You can then plug your Garmin in to your laptop and use the tracking facility on Mapsource to show you your house.

I sit at home for hours admiring the technocological acheivement of the GPS to tell me that I am exactly where I think I am. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
