My old Raymarine Tridata had sockets on the back and you just plugged in the power supply and the two transducer cables. The new one has no sockets , just a lot of spade terminals. That means the three cables to it have to be opened up and each tiny wire in each cable must be fitted with a terminal and then attached seperately. That is going to be a rat's nest - and much more vulnerable. Any ideas as to why they've done it lke that - they couldn't tell me!

With the old plugs you had to drill dirty great holes to run the cables, and if you needed to run it through a conduit or other tight space you're stuffed. Or at least, you'd have to cut the plug off and rejoin the cable afterwards. With the ST60 series they decided to just run bare cables in the first place, and crimp on the spades when you get there.
