closest thing I have every experienced is being the first boat out of Chi marina when they have just opened the lock gates for free flow and there is about a foot difference in water height...
Perhaps better* to go in backwards, with forward STW. At least the impact with the concrete would be less dramatic and more fender-able.
*All relative of course - best choice is the main harbour entrance!
That's a good idea but the turbulence would defeat my small rudder, I think.
My preference? Heave to on the offshore tack, relax and wait for conditions to improve, or find the other entrance!
where's your sense of adventure!!!
Tell you what, lend me your boat and I'll have a go at it! :encouragement:where's your sense of adventure!!!

Part serious, part tic. Yep it would look rubbish on youtube! On the other hand, if they closed the bridge just as you got to it, you could drive out at 15kts and look a hero :encouragement:LOL, not sure if your suggestion was meant as tongue in cheek, but coming to think of it, it actually makes good sense.
I just wonder what sort of comments that would attract on youtube, after someone surely would publish a video of the maneuver...!![]()
