Trent Falls - upstream

There isn't anything at Keady any more. Weststockwith is the 1st available stop that has a couple of pubs. Torksey is the next and then a Cromwell lock after that.

Only a quick taxi ride form Keadby to some good pubs with meals. That is assuming you can still pen through keadby lock and stay night in canal. Few years since I was last there.

Keadby is okay for a one night stop over on a self catering basis - but no pub ..............and avoid the fish and chip shop. Keadby lock must be booked in advance .

The White Hart at West Stockwith should not be missed - excellent beer brewed in the Idle brewery adjacent the pub and great food. (Not to be confused with The Waterfront pub located adjacent the canal basin). For just a drink - the boat club bar may be visited on, the three days it opens, if you politely ask permission and sign in - they like boaters but hate campers ! You should book passage through the lock in advance - phone the day before your intended arrival.

At Torksey our preference is the Hume arms - which is a half mile walk into Torksey village , but worth the effort. But the White Swan pub okay if a little basic and the Wheelhouse restaurant is good - if you can get a table. At Torksey you can get away with not booking the lock - there is a large and safe waiting pontoon in the cut on the tidal side.

Good point, but not a place you would want to stop except in emergency or if you stay with the boat.
There have been numerous incidents of yoofs throwing bottles etc onto boats

We have never had a problem there and until we do we will continue to moor there.

People say the same about the wall opposite the castle in Newark, again we have had no problems and happily moor there..

Likewise, We have moored there several times with no problems.

Several people have told us not to moor there due to yobbish behaviour but when questioned, not one of them has actually witnessed any! I don't doubt there will have been some problems but suspect it's blown out of proportion by "Chinese whispers".
