Just supposing you were going to have a look at a few boats in and around Carrick and Donegal and that you would be travelling from the southeast of the UK.
You would probably need a day to get to all the stuff you want to look at.
How do you travel. ?
A.By Air (RyanAir to Belfast) and hire car.
B.By road 550 odd miles and across on ferry(£200.00 Rtn) and £150.00 fuel.
C.??????...........
Would prob have to add a night B&B which ever way you go.
All comments welcome.
Ps....and if you buy,how much to bring it back by road. ?

If you fly to Belfast City (Goerge Best Airport) and then get a taxi to Carrickfergus to look at whatever boat there and then depending on where in Donegal the next boat is you could get the train to Londonderry and get a taxi there...
I did the same in reverse when I went boat shopping but I took the Larne Cairnryan ferry and drove to the south coast (saw three boats) and back up in a day.
Is the boats you're looking at trailable (i.e could you tow them back)?

I think Ryan Air still fly into Londonderry too. Look at the Aer Arann website as well as I think they have flights into Donegal airport.

Is the boats you're looking at trailable..... Err poss not at around 40ft

Suspect might drive and make it a weeks hol, have a look down that coast having as usual been everywhere but nowhere on my doorstep.

Which Carrick? Carrick-on-shannon? If your coming to Ireland to look at 2nd hand mobos the best selections are in Portumna (ie Portumna Marine in midlands) or Athlone (also midlands), both on the 270km Shannon navigation.

If flying, RyanAir does what it says on the tin, cheap but effective. AerLingus cheap but also cheerful, and they don't have plastic seats, nor annoying audio adverts during the flights like the other lot :)

Need to get to Carrick on Shannon or thereabouts and it looks like... Gatwick(last outpost civilisation)... to Knock via Aer lingus and then car hire.

Have often flown with Ryanair in the past ,but the labyrinthine maze of keyboard barriers now in place to prevent one finding out the actual price of a ticket has driven me into a anybody but Ryanair...........

Fly to Belfast International and get a hire car. Easier than getting out of the city. Derry and Donegal airports are easy too. Could do the pub crawl, Leo's, Tessies, John Joes. Look at a few boats, great craic

probably just as easy and more convenient to fly to Dublin rather than Belfast and make your way from there.
I think Ryanair also have alot of flight destinations to Shannon airport which will be approx equal distance as the other airports but alot quiter.

Knock airport will be your closest airport to Carrick

Thanks for all comments.

Yup..shortest drive to where we want to get to and AE go from Gatwick.
