Well might state there has been a lot of Overreaction plus Fiddling in somes comments or even thoughts, so far; though to be fair, thankfully, some comments are more 'on the ball' so considered as 'realistic' than others, so thanks to them.

Suggest its France who if any country would or will withdraw such Health related benefits, to a UK person, whether on Holiday or extended leave, understand that our UK has indicated it would prefer to continue with such arrangements; might not be 'music to the ears' of some who post as if in some dark dismal place, in their minds, a sort of 'we are all doomed' scenario, sort of disconnected to us in the real world, it would seem.

Yes anyone who has enjoyed the receprical arrangements with another EU country since our (UK) joining that EU has inded been taking advantage of our EU membership so those of us that have not decided or indeed needed to take up such provision has indeed been paying by Income and Purchase tax to the benefit of others ! so well be it so not no problems there
Correct me if I am wrong but I understand you have some medical condition or disability that presumably requires treatment under the NHS.

I am fortunate in that I do not.

But I do not object to the fact that I am subsidising your health care.

That is what happens in a civilised society and long may it remain so.

Yes well Kind Mr P you are indeed both a fortunate person plus a civilised person to boot, same here I think, only I have had need of the attentions of Medical Staff since my 19th year, the Urgent Highly Skilled and Decicated Medical intervention at that time resulted in me having the benefit of every minute, hour, day and year since then for which I have been eternally gratefull (maybe not everyone will agree with that, but ?) well to the cost, I could not put a figure to it, maybe you have an idea ? multipull fractures to Middle Third, Jaw bone plus multipull loss of teeth with concussion, 9 months recovering so 9 months off Apprenticeship; yea that must have cost a great deal; have I repaid it, crikey who knows ?

But I do not grudge the cost to anyone else who needs such Medical and other care; I do think or observe though that in the original posting some doubt as to its accuracy is questioned; for a start we as a UK citizen have surely only been able to avail oneself of such a receprical arrangement since the UK joined that EU ? our desire (in the main) to leave that EU only puts us back to our possition pre EU days and even then maybe te possition will change somewhat if that EU becomes more realistic about our departure ?

The idea that one can live in a country for half a year and in another country for the other half year, is an interesting one ? what do the various countrys think about that ? into which country would one pay Nat Ins or Inc Tax etc ?

Guess that to help and assist the original poster with the conundrum possed, quiet consideration and active research is best needed rather that the outlandish claims mede in that post ?

The postings on The Lounge are helpfull to this conundrum

In 2018 at the age of 72 I had a 12 month multi trip gold policy with Puffin. £132.75. max 60 days any one trip
Unlike many insurers they accepted that I was traveling to near EU countries on my yacht & would be based on the boat. They would not include cover whilst I was on the boat for accident etc, which is understandable.
Whilst I was in the Channel Island ( not in health exchange scheme) I had 2 instances of dental treatment. I had them there because it was a nightmare trying to get a dentist in under 10 weeks in Cherbourg or Le Havre.
Both bills settled in 8 weeks of claiming & there was no excess for dental care. It was not difficult to claim . The claim was forwarded to an independent assessor who asked for copies of the receipts & that was it.
I think that it is important to say that one is traveling by one's boat as a lot of companies do not want to know. I have told them I do not want cover whilst I am on the boat but it does not fit their tick boxes
Firms like Bishops & Skinner want silly money & are hardly worth the phone call.

Until recently everyone in Europe thought it was a pretty good and uncontroversial idea. The vast majority of us, across the continent, still do.

No. I don't think I will.

If the vote had gone the other way, I can guarantee that the Brexit lot wouldn't have shut up about it.

I'm not a remainer. I accept that the referendum was lost. I'm a rejoiner.
You've had 4 years to get brexit through your skull & you still can't make your own mind up.
You should change your name from Frogmogman to Butterfly.
