We used to use Insure & Go long stay policy until increasing age made premium silly, included coastal sailing and scuba as standard, off shore sailing could be covered as extra.

Most EU travel cover requires use of EHIC for medical treatment which is had for free so, the only useful part of the policy for us was the possibility of repatriation, for which I'm willing to cover myself. Whether EHIC will continue after/if Brexit, we'll just have to wait and see.

I've bought Topsail's "Yachtsman's Travel Insurance" for individual trips in the past. They do have an option to extend coverage to 12 months, but I've no idea how that works out cost-wise.

I am with Puffin (gold policy) & have a 12 month multi trip policy max 60 days per trip. Cost £ 132-75 PA. They were happy to accept marina bills to show dates of travel.
I had toothache & had to visit a dentist in Guernsey. Cost £ 86-00 & it was repaid in full in about 4 weeks . Quite painless to do.
One does not need lots of the items that some policies include, such as flights etc but this policy works for me. I am more concerned about major illness & repatriation & that is covered. I have friends who can recover the boat if I have to leave it somewhere for a while if I am incapacitated. That sort of cost I can accept, but other costs can escalate & they are the ones one needs to cover.
Not difficult to apply for the insurance either I was able to ring up, rather than fill in forms online first. This was the second year so details were transferred on

I used bishop skinner for travel insurance. Seemed to one of the few policies that gave cover when sailing and no hotels or flights booked. I've got to use my ehic? card in the EU or reciprocal services elsewhere where there are any.
