Transporting a boat via Shipping questions

Hi All,

Has anyone had any experience having a boat shipped to the U.K., via shipping (not via a truck).

This would be handled by Princess, however did anyone require extra insurance etc.? Does this over stress the hull in any way?

Can't answer your specific questions, but be prepared to prove VAT has been paid, or be prepared to pay it.

well this vessel is VAT paid with paperwork, and given that Princess would oversee the transportation I think that on this occasion that aspect is covered, however thank you for raising it as these are the type of things I'd like to double check and triple check.

PMYS brought my Princess P58 back from Mallorca in 2015. I had taken ownership so had insured the boat and informed the insurers that she was being transported by ship. I don't recall having to do any more than that. Then..... 8 months later she was back on a ship to Palma, arranged by me this time. All went smoothly. Its a slick operation. Good luck. R

Make sure the cradle is a good fit, get it covered and ensure its in front of the ships stack.

Plenty of good shipping companies around as well as a few bad ones also.

The system works so just leave it to them in my view

Two things. Cargo ships have no schedule. They divert and delay for profitable cargo so any date you are given Is nominal

Some say wrap it. Some say don't as torn wrap in the wind causes damage.

I didn't wrap so just pay someone to clean it when it arrives.

Finally tell your mates they an it stuff on it as it is free transport !
