Hello.

I have just signed a contract on a 2009 Integrity 346 ES trawler in Holland.
I am looking into options on having it transported to to Norway. Either by ship or road if possible.
The boat is payed ex VAT, so that is the main reason why I am looking into trasportation to make the export process out of the EU easier.

When it comes to shipping options, I am clueless. The broker is looking into the options also, but I would like to check my self as well to kepp track of options and prices.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on who to contact?

Option 1 would be to put it on a ship heading for Norwegian SE coast from one of the major ports in Holland
Option 2 is road transport if possible. I dont have the excact meassurements on the height, but I am guessing around 4 meters??
I know the height limits are more strict in norway than in the EU, so it could either be unloaded at the swedish side of the border, or at the dock of one the ferry terminals in in Norway.

LOA 11,58 , beam is 3,98m, height 4m+(?) and the weight is around 12 tons.

Here is a few pics. Dou you think it would be possible to transport by road give the radar arch is removed?
Thanks a lot :)

The really nice route is through the Kiel Canal, stopping maybe at Midelfart and Frederikshaven before heading across (and along, depending on your location) the Skagerrak.

Lovely journey, lots to see. Even at 7 knots it will only take a few days and plenty of places to stop in if you need to.

Sea delivery seems a good idea. You will have to be the passenger, with the dealer/builder as delivery captain, in order to avoid paying Dutch VAT, at least until 12 miles offshore. You could then dock in a third country (Germany, Denmark?) and do the rest of the trip yourself

Otherwise, ship transport will be very expensive, perhaps €20k. Road transport will be much cheaper than ship

Thanks.
I am fully aware that it can be driven home, but that was not the question..
Not have the time. Over 600 nm @ 7 knots takes some time as well as putting another 100 hours on the clock.
The boat is owned and sold by a company ex VAT and I am paying net.

Not many sellers would let you drive off because they are responsible for the vat if the boat does not leave EU or the export document is not returned correctly stamped.
That's why a shipping company is better in this case.

Should all else fail, I will consider taking it home by sea a guarantee for the VAT, but first I would like inputs on transportation options.

Thanks

Thanks for your input JFM :)

I think it would not matter about the VAT if i took possetion in south DK or Germany as those are EU countries as well. My experience from importing cars from Germany (that should be the same principle), is that it needs to be out of the EU. The export documents are stamped at the last customs office out of EU which would be north tip of DK or NOR-SWE border or at the ferry terminal in Kiel if on the Kiel-Oslo ferry.

I have been driving away with cars from germany payed EX VAT, but only because I knew the seller well. It's all about trust.

E20k sounds like a lot from say Rotterdam, Antwerp or Bremerhaven to Norway? I would think there are lots of ships going that route with cargo for norway??
If the prices are that high, it's ruled out for sure. I have heared about people bringing 40-50 footers back from the Med for about E10-12K...
If E20 k is realistic, i can not imagine what it would cost to bring M2 to the Med.

Do you think by looking at the pics that it could be transported by road?

Thanks.

Roadtransport of this size of boats is not cheap and not easy.
If I understood you right your problem is the VAT clearance from NL ?? - Suggest you ask a forwarding agency to arrange clearance for you,
arrange for a delivery skipper, proceed via helgoland (VAT Free area and good place to take VAT free fuel) and straight north to Norway.
Harlingen/Helgoland is 120 miles and Helgoland/Kristiansand 260 miles, e.i. round about 50 hrs.

Im sure the Forum can suggest a good delivery skipper for you (and maybe also the costs involved)

I dont know Integrety, but to me it looks like an Island Gypsy.

Good Luck

Might be worth giving vandewetering in Loosdrecht near Amsterdam a call. I've used them twice myself in recent years, they will be able to give you advice on your situation as well as quote you for overland transport. They have over 50 low loaders and are familiar with deliveries to Scandinavia - all of the guys there also speak superb English etc. The maximum height for Holland is 4.50 metres so you should be ok for that bit at least, however, they can advise and a phone call won't cost much, anyway.

they will be able of advising you about the ins & outs of road transport in Netharlands, Germany & Denmark etc.

- Put to sea in Denmark and a hop & skip from Hirtsals or somewhere on the east coast ...

If by sea and wanting to do a straight journey..

NL to Helgoland for re-fuel.. then up the Danish Coast, with Esbjerg, Hvide Sande, Tyborøen, Hirtsals as secondary ports ... perfectly feasible during nice weather...

Remember that boat transport etc., will be added to the purchase price of the boat and thus will be subjected to Norwegian import duty and 25% VAT

Lykke til !!

Thanks a lot for your offer to help BartW :) Appreciated!
I do fear that it's too tall for road transport, so hoping to strike luck on sea transport

Takk Alf :)
I am considdering taking it on it's own keel, maybe partily by delivery skipper to Kiel or somewhere on the west coast of DK, but want to explore the ship transport options first.
It would be a great trip in a good weather window. W coast of DK is no fun in poor weather I have heared...

Velbekomme ! :D

Done the journey myself many years ago and yes W coast can be tempremental.... better off offshore in deeper water, and do take it slow (very slow) when entering the ports in deep swell ... we averaged about 12 - 14 knots in a semi-displacement 30 something footer in a good weather window and crossed over to Mandal for our Westward journey.

Option 1 ship it I used peters and may but many companies organising this, advantage little boat running sort out servicing etc on arrival, known costs and documentation for VAT etc.

Option 2 drive it say 700 miles so 10 to 20 days depending on weather, breakdowns but high additional costs.

Option 3 by road firstly will it fit under the bridges, looks a bit high to me, mine was. Then cost?

Rotterdam to Scandinavia is a well served shipping route but the size of your boat will make it expensive it shipped on flat rack containers due to lost slots and special handling / lifting costs. Conventional vessels generally dont operate on this trade on a liner basis as they simply cant compete with the container boys

i have delivered a boat on water from Southampton to Kotka before and in 4 days it was just about doable but that was running flat out (30 Kts) and pretty much 24/7. 2 week holiday would be a great trip or perhaps a delivery skipper to assist?

lovely looking boat you have there! whatever route, please take some pictures to show us the trip!!
