A friend is looking to ship her boat back to the UK by road. (ship by ship companies don't seem to do < 40'). 32' boat currently in Malta; I read an article I think in PBO a couple of years ago about shipping by road from Croatia, but I've lost the article. Help? Would it be better to ship from S France? All advice welcome!

It would be much cheaper to ship from south of France to a channel port. Even cheaper if you ship to north France and then sail her back from there.
Have a look at my web site - under sailing - lorry option in the canals section for a list of french transport companies who can quote on the Internet.

Had a quote about 8 weeks ago to ship a 36 footer from North France to Souther France,
French conpany was 4,500 Euro's
English was about £4,000.
I think the french one was of Michael's website.

Confirming MichaelE's post there are at least three French transportation companies who will handle S. France to N. France road transport. From there take it across the Channel yourself!

Companies are:Augizeau, Morlin and Morineau. All are on the internet and you can get quotes overnight. If your French is not up to it they will handle things in English.

For example, I have quote from Augizeau which would mean around GBP 1,200 all up for my 28 footer from Marseilles to Cherbourg.

Phil,

Sorry for the lateness, but am in Greece try to sort out my own boat. The best company I found was Van De Wetering, who were going to ship my 10.3 metre MOBO from Koper in Slovenia for 3600 euro. I can give you further details if you want them.
