The clear plastic used to make windows in sprayhoods is not strong, easy to split and difficult to work with in a sewing machine. And also not uv resistant, becoming cloudy and fragile quite quickly. I doubt you'd find a maker to put one together for you.

Enhance it further with the framing made of clear plastic tubing, improves visibility no end.
Everyone else has difficulty reading my brand new instruments on the hatch garage though.

It would certainly be better to have it RF welded than stitched - that's how vinyl hoods for cars are made. Durability might be an issue, but if you were prepared to replace every five to ten years I think it could be a practical prospect.

In all seriousness I reckon the way to do it is with the stuff they make racey dinghies' sails out of. The normal PVC window material will stretch and distort in no time if you ask it to carry the structural loads of the hood. Part of designing a good hood is making sure that all the load paths go through canvas rather than window, for that reason.

You'd need to find a particularly cooperative sailmaker to give it a go, though. Understandably, most like to stick to what they know rather than risk a radical idea not working and the customer refusing to pay for it.

Depending on how far your hood extends, the shade it provides can be one of its most useful functions.

An excellent idea!

Sailmakers should always make a pattern of the hood if there Is an existing frame.
The type of sailcloth material should not be an issue as they are using different materials
for far more complicated shapes already.

The benefit of no obstruction when looking forward? Immeasurable!
