transoms with outboard brackets

I have a Wayfarer sailing dinghy and wanted to know if its transom would be strong enough for a 4hp 4 stroke outboard on an adjustable outboard bracket bearing in mind that as the engine is lowered the engine moves further away from the transom also 4 strokes are slightly heavier than 2 strokes

I used to have a 2hp Suzuki and have used a Yamaha Malta on the transom of a wayfaerer. These were hung directly on the tramsom. Given that you can get at the inside of the transom it should be easy enough to bond some plywood to the inside to strenghten the transom for a bracket as described. I would say that a 4hp outboard is a bit overkill s a 2 is more than enogh for a wayfaerer.

Yam 4 hp is 21.5 kg

Not too heavy, and exactly the same weight as their two stroke. I would mount directly on transom though. There's a lot more strength in a whole transom than in 4 bolts hanging through it for a bracket.
