Transoms, Ladders and Swim Platforms

OK, so what regulations are there that require boarding steps on a home-built boat?

Pete

To have it CE marked the same as all new boats built in the EU
If you go to france, for instance, there is a max distance offshore you can take a C rated craft
Not sure of all the details but he did get compliance cert on finished boat
The steps on the bow was just one of the ways he managed to comply with the extensive regs

Common sense, which would take you and me a milion pages and quite a few ink cartridges, or zero if the OP engaged brain !

Did you really feel the need to post that. PRV asked a simple question about what regs i was referring to.
I do not think he needed a lecture on engaging brain or on common sense ( which some regs do give the impression of ignoring)

Since ' common ' sense is all too rare a commodity, yes !

PRV Pete happens to have it, but I'm not too sure about some others.

As for ' steps on the bow ', even the French bods who make up regulations for a joke on Friday afternoons ( zis vill wind up les rosbeefs ! ) aren't that daft, and French sailors certainly aren't...
