Transom thickness on tenders?

Does anybody have an idea of the maximum transom clamp area thickness for "average" 2 to 4HP outboards?
Our tender has an additional stiffener on the outside, about 10mm thick, in poor shape.
I have some 15mm marine ply for the repair at home- but the outboard is not at home so I can't check.
The max opening of the clamp from memory is probably 50mm?
Mariner 3.3 outboard.

I have an Evinrude twin cylinder 2 stroke 4 hp. Essentially the same engine as the 3hp.

Maximum clamp opening is a little over 55mm.
