Dear fonts of all knowledge

I'm fitting a new transom to my Folkboat and am at odds what to seal it with.
Some suggest Sikaflex 291, but having read a little about this it may not be the answer.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

G'day Woolleyhatter,

As I understand it a transom is a structural part of your hull, are looking for something to hold in position till you glass it in?

What material is made from? if marine ply, then seal it with an epoxy making sure the edges are well soaked.

Almost anything with a bit of give can be used around the outside edge, it's a good practice to build a nice rounded gusset between hull and bulkhead or transom before you start glassing; Epoxy resin and Micro-fibres are very strong and provide a nice curve to glass over, just use a small jar (Fish paste) as a profile and drag down the joint.

Hope this helps.

Avagoodweekend......
